In some cultures, the old age is more valued, while in some cultures the youth is more valued. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

题目大意：有人更推崇人生的老年阶段，有人更推崇人生的青年阶段。讨论双边并给出你的观点。

思路：

• 双边讨论类的题目，可以自由讨论双方各自的利弊。这两个观点，都有合理性，但其合理性需要满足特定的条件下才能成立；

• 我的观点就是双方都有道理：不同的人生阶段有不同的需求和目标，也才会侧重不同的人生观；

• 两个主体段分别讨论双方的合理性，并给出限定条件和导致这种观点产生的前提；

Some people attached more importance on old age, whereas adolescence is given more priority by others. I would say it is not an either-or question as each opinion has its justification in terms of the individual’s attitude toward life.

From the perspective of senior citizens, it does make sense that twilight years bring them more pleasure to their lives. At the economic level, after years of hectic life in their younger days, many adults have laid a solid economic foundation to afford their own houses and feed families, which makes it possible for them to spend more time on family life instead of immersing in work day and night; this is particularly obvious for those in retirement, who can fully enjoy life by pension. From the aspect of mentality, what is the more frequently mentioned is the maturity that endows the elders with the exclusive wisdom and sophisticated insight into problems in both reality and ideology, which allows them to cope with tricky conditions more calmly than their younger counterparts.

However, what is applauded by senior members of society does not translate well to young minds who aspire for a more emotional and ambitious way of life. Unlike adults who have already gone through the stage of struggle and therefore are adapted to an easy life, most youngsters are in the climax of their ambitions in career success and eagerness to earn a higher quality of life, and most importantly, they boast the needed physical stamina and the willingness to take challenges. It is these features that compel them to embrace a more enterprising lifestyle, either by exhibiting their competence in workplaces for promotion or to further their potentials learning new vocational skills in leisure time.

In conclusion, it looks to me that it would be simple-minded to label either of the two life attitudes as more justifiable if we do not take into consideration different circumstances and goals in specific stage of life.
